The day is finally here! After taking some time off this summer following my departure as the Executive Officer for Budget & Strategy at the World Customs Organization, I have set up an independent consulting practice, PME Group LLC - Consulting, with a focus on Strategy & Leadership Development. Over the past few months, I have developed materials to assist in Strategic Planning & Leadership Development.

My experience in Strategy & Leadership began more than 15 years ago while working as a Global Project Manager for DHL and was selected for DHL's Developing Business Leaders (DBL) programme. At FedEx, I worked with the Senior Management team to develop FedEx's Global Supply Chain Security strategy and was selected to FedEx's Leadership program, ASPIRE. At the WCO, I was selected for a training opportunity in Harvard Business School's Executive Education program Driving Corporate Performance: Aligning Strategy, Systems, and Scorecards and had the opportunity to work with Robert Kaplan and to continue that relationship.

These experiences have helped me greatly in my performance as a senior executive and now I would like to use these skills to help develop others. From one-to-one Executive Coaching to Leadership Development programs, I can dramatically improve your personal performance. Through rigorous Strategic Management, we can dramatically improve the performance of your business or organization.

To all of my colleagues in Customs Administrations around the world including my friends in the Ministries of Trade and Tax, and Finance, I look forward to continuing our relationships. I hope to continue leading your annual Strategic Planning sessions, and facilitating your Team Building and Leadership Development programs. I now have the ability to provide one-on-one coaching as well.

Most of you are already aware that I have spent the last decade focused on Strategy Formulation and Project Management at leading organizations mentioned above. What you might not know is that I have also served on several nonprofit boards and committees (listed on my LinkedIn profile), and that my real passion is to see others succeed.

I've often noted that among the many benefits associated with success there is at least one disappointment, which is "coming back down the mountain". For example, I know many of you have participated in charity events to raise funds for causes that concern you. You know what I am talking about. You work hard and train for weeks and months and years and on the day you climb Mount Kilimanjaro (or <insert your accomplishment here>) you feel extreme pride and gratitude to have achieved your goals and then ... what?

Some will look for another mountain to climb. Some will create a motivational public speaking business and facilitate team buildings around the globe. Some will look for different challenges to stimulate different parts of the brain. And, some will choose to do good in the world.

I have recently spent a lot of time researching Social Entrepreneurs and the impact they can have on communities. I am specifically referring to 'for profit' enterprises although there are many effective nonprofits as well. Some of you are Social Entrepreneurs! I want to help. I believe in the 'profit incentive', so I believe making a profit is required to be successful in today's economic environment. I also believe that making a profit can be done while simultaneously delivering a social good.

As a Generalist, I can assist businesses in delivering dramatic improvements by focusing on strategy. Similarly, I can work though Senior Management to develop current and future Leaders in the organization. As an expert in Strategy Formulation, I can ensure that your business is Effective and Efficient!

As an Independent Consultant I am looking to partner with like-minded individuals that are also interested in Independent Consulting. Of course, none of us can really go it alone all the time, can we? I will need your help and support along the way, and I thank you in advance for when you are able to assist me. I believe always in Win-Win. I do not play Zero-sum games.

I am excited about the possibilities and I hope that you will contact me if there is anything I can do to help you. Likewise, you can help me by giving me a referral or by making a recommendation on LinkedIn. My website is easy to remember: StrategyExplained.com. It is still a work-in-progress, but I am always open to critique/feedback!

As blogging makes a great marketing channel for my new business, and many of our peers will have similar concerns, I would appreciate any ideas, comments, questions that I could use as a writing prompt. LinkedIn has provided this great platform and I want us to exploit it to our benefit. So, send me your questions and comments and let's get started!
